Just when you think it can’t get any weirder in the world of fundraising, a whole bunch of things happened in the last few weeks that were, well, flabbergasting. So much so that I can’t fit them all into one newsletter, so I’ll be filling the next few issues with commentary about these not-so-brilliant fundraising tactics.
Your point is well taken and yet, recently I received a "free will" email from an organization to which I have been a monthly donor for about four years. It prompted me to think about a will and I appreciated being informed of a service that, as someone with few assets, I would not otherwise be able to access. I guess the point is you have to know your donor -- "free will" might be a good thing to offer established donors who do not have many assets, but not major donors or new donors.
