At AFP ICON in New Orleans in April, I walked the halls and looked into various meeting rooms to get a sense of each presentation. It was disappointing to see that the room where they were talking about recurring gifts was mostly empty. I’ve tried and tried to understand it, but I can’t figure out the nonprofit world’s reticence, if not aversion, to embracing the use of recurring gifts. Is it just resistance to change, or is it something else?
